An NFL Player Spent $19,000 on a Shopping Spree for Needy Kids at Toys “R” Us

While many of us would love to help out those in need, we simply can’t. We give what we can and that’s something to be proud of. What really helps is if your bank account has a handful of zeros and commas in it!
Andre Johnson, a wide receiver for the Houston Texans, held his annual shopping spree for his charity foundation on Tuesday. Andre has Child Protective Services select 12 at-risk kids and then he takes them to Toys “R” Us.
They play a little game in the store. Each of the 12 kids have 80-seconds to grab whatever they can get their hands on. Why just 80-seconds? Johnson’s’ jersey number is 80. At the end of the game the total bill came to $19,521 and each kid was also guaranteed a video game system of their choice and two games. Each kid got $1,626.75 worth of toys.
Way to step up Johnson. I think every professional athlete should help out their communities. I know several do, it would be nice to see every single one of them pay it forward to others that could use a hand up.
