Yard Waste and Compost Guidelines for St. Cloud Residents
The spring weather has led many people to start work on their lawns. St. Cloud Public Works Assistant Director Dan Legatt joined me on WJON. He says there are some guidelines as to what should go in the yard waste bags and how sticks, branches and twigs should be prepared for pickup.

District 742 has announced the hiring of Mike Petroske as head girls hockey coach of the St. Cloud Crush. The Crush is a co-op consisting of students from Tech, Apollo and Cathedral High Schools.

More Bear Activity in Cold Spring Area
Spotted bear activity has picked up in Central Minnesota. I reported yesterday black bears were seen on trail cameras in Cold Spring early this week. I received more confirmation of bear activity from a WJON listener in Cold Spring who sent me this photo taken from a trail camera.
Black Bear Spotted in Cold Spring This Week
Black bears continue to be active in Central Minnesota. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON. He says he's heard reports of bears on trail cameras in the Cold Spring area. Schmitt says this isn't the first time bears have been reported in Cold Spring and suspects it won't be the last.
Lottery Tickets Stolen in St. Cloud; Vehicles Broken Into in Waite Park
The St. Cloud Police Department are reporting a burglary on 2500 block of 2nd Street South where a business was entered after hours and lottery tickets were taken.
High School Sports Results/Schedule
The Cathedral Girls Golf team finished 7th among 17 teams at the Milaca Invite. The meet was played in a 6-6-6 format. The team of Cammy Sand and Averie Andvik carded an 86 to finish 10th overall. Abby Silver and Natalie Granowski shot a 93.
St. Cloud V.A. Offering Medication Take Back Day
The St. Cloud V.A. is offering a take back day where everyone can drop off unused and expired medications to have them disposed of safely. Jackie Stevenson from the St. Cloud V.A. explains this annual event is for veterans and the general public and all medications will be accepted.
Timberwolves First Round Playoff Schedule Set
The Timberwolves are the 3rd seed in the Western Conference and will play 6th seeded Phoenix in a first round best of 7 series. Game 1 will be in Minnesota Saturday at 2:30, pregame on AM 1390/93.9 FM Granite City Sports at 2:15.
Former SCSU Star Hosting Basketball Camp in St. Cloud This Summer
Former St. Cloud State basketball player Forrest Witt is offering basketball camps in the St. Cloud area including one at Whitney Recreation Center July 16-18. Witt is the current Alexandria High School basketball coach who led the Cardinals to the State Tournament in 2023 and advanced to the State Tournament last month.
