Billy Ray Cyrus Was Friends With Kurt Cobain?

It’s funny how Billy Ray Cyrus has been in the press as of late.  Just this weekend I saw and interview with him and he was talking about how he wished Hannah Montana never happened, and that if he could take it all back he would.  I think he is losing control of his little Disney muffin.  Either way I have a bit more respect for him after reading this on The Pulse Of Radio.  Here is the whole article.

Billy Ray Cyrus told GQ that he canceled a world tour when Kurt Cobain died, because it “really had an impact” on him. The country singer explained, “He was one of those guys that became a friend to me that I never expected.”

According to StereoGum.com, he went on to explain how they met at a venue and Kurt said to him, “Hey man, congratulations — you pissed the whole world off.’” Billy says they shook hands and that down the line Cobain congratulated him at an awards ceremony when a lot of his peers neglected to. At future run-ins they they’d talk about being fathers since Cobain’s daughter Francis Bean and Miley Cyrus were born within three months of each other.

Billy says after Kurt died, he was inspired to settle down.

He said he wrote a poem the day he found out about Kurt, and even read it to the interviewer.
