Dying Man Spends $80,000 To Fulfill His Bucket List to Only Find Out He is Not Dying

If you were told you only have a few months left to live, what would you do? Sell all of your belongings and start living life with the time you have left? That’s what this guy did!
Back in May of 2010, 69-year-old Frank from New Zealand was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. His doctors told him he only had a few month left to live. So, Frank and his wife decided to make the most of the time they have left together.
They sold their home, and took a $70,000 loss, because they had “nothing to lose”. They took a 10-day trip to Fiji and spent another $30,000. Traveled to Australia to visit their daughter and grandchildren. Frank even started smoking again, because he figured why not.
One might think of the wife he would leave behind and what she is going to do after he passes away. Why blow all your money to leave nothing for your wife. That does not matter, because the doctors misdiagnosed Frank. Turns out he did not have cancer and was perfectly healthy! Which is great news, for most people when they hear they are not going to die.
The couple expected his life insurance to cover the cost, but it looks like they will now spend the rest of their years on earth living a long, high-debt life together. At least they did some cool things they may not have done otherwise. Welcome to the American dream, living a life full of debt!
A claim has been lodged with ACC and the error is being investigated by the Health and Disability Commission.
