Eddie Van Halen Gave Advice To Scott Stapp On Being a Rockstar – What Did He Say?

Going from a nobody to chicks screaming for you is a major life change. How would you deal with the new stardom? Scott Stapp must have needed advice because Eddie Van Halen gave him a Music 101 talk back in 1998 when Creed opened for Van Halen at Madison Square Gardens.
“He came into our dressing room and gave us kind of a ‘Music 101,’ about how we should approach each performance, how special this whole thing was and we should never take it for granted and how quickly it could be gone. He even gave us pointers [like]: ‘Keep your hotel room key with your room number in your back pocket, because there’s gonna be a time when you freaking pass out somewhere and you don’t know where your hotel is.”
Maybe he should have told him to stay away from the booze and drugs! Would have saved him lots of money! You can lead a horse to water….
Don’t take the money for granted either! We’ve all seen it happen before! You may have the money now, but don’t blow it on crap that doesn’t matter. That’s my two cents, because that’s about all the money I have!
If you could tell Scott one thing, what would you tell him?
