Dave Grohl talked with Pulse Of Radio and said the band had to have the new songs down and ready to record, since they were using analog tape rather than digital recorders,
We were rehearsing these songs at our big studio to make sure that we had them tight and ready to record once we got into the garage. And I think all of that rehearsal and all of that preparation made it sound like five people with instruments and songs. Instead of some massive sonic soundscape, it was like, just a band, you know.
Wasting Light was produced by legendary producer Butch Vig, who worked with Grohl 20 years ago on Nirvana’s Nevermind. For the younger readers, Dave was the drummer in Nirvana. LOL I guess that means I’m old. Anyway, Mr. Grohl also enlisted the help of Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic on the new album. Krist plays on the track called “a track last worked with Grohl 20 years ago when he produced Nirvana’s Nevermind.
Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic appears on Wasting Light to perform on a track called “I Should Have Known.”
The Foo premiered their new documentary, Back And Forth, last Friday. As much as I would like to say that it was great, I can’t. Not because it sucks, but because I am lame and didn’t see it. I know, lame. I did post the trailer last week and you can watch it here.
Are you going to buy or download the new Foo Fighters album this week? Do you think they are one of the best modern rock bands around at the moment? Have you seen the documentary yet? If so, what did you think?
