GWAR Singer Slams Hellyeah on Stage [VIDEO]

For as many years as Hellyeah has been around I have been a fan, and as a fan I have to support them and stick up for them when needed. I have also been a fan of GWAR since their inception as well, so it’s difficult to take sides when conflict arises between the two. I will say that I don’t ever remember GWAR being smack talkers, or at least not about any bands that I like. So it shocked me to hear the negative words coming out of their mouth regarding one of my favorite and talented bands around, Hellyeah.
It seems that a feud has started between the two bands because of a comment that GWAR singer Oderus Urungus (a.k.a. Dave Brockie) made while on-stage at a recent show. He started his tirade by saying,
How ’bout that new Hellyeah record? Pretty good, huh? What a great name for a band — Hell, yeah. That is so awesome. How did those fat, stupid dudes from Texas ever come up with something so awesome? How did those fat, dumbass, tattooed, ignorant, inbred [Bleep] ever come up with such an amazing idea as Hellyeah? Wow, Stephen Hawking, move over! Hahahahaha!
I have to say that comment is sad for so many reasons. First being that Hellyeah consist of such metal bands as Pantera, Nothingface, Mudvayne and Damage Plan, and were influential to many other bands to follow. Also, the guys in Hellyeah are about as down to earth as you can get and would give their shirt off their back for ANYONE, even the little B”" Oderus Urungus from GWAR.
In response to the crap talking that GWAR did, Hellyeah took to Twitter and posted this,
We’d like to thank Gwar’s lead singer for talking [Bleep] about us at one of their shows. Classy guy…yay you!
Singer Chad Gray later added this,
I don’t know what all the hype is on this Gwar thing. I think it’s an honor to be ripped on by Gwar! They’re awesome! Thanks Oderus!
I know that what the classier response to GWAR’s rant but I hope this isn’t done. I know for a fact that the guys in Hellyeah would crush GWAR.
Hellyeah’s new record “Band Of Brothers” is set to be released on July 17th and features the single “War In Me”, which you can hear on REV. Hellyeah will also be hitting the Myth in Maplewood on June 26. Find more details on the show on the REV EVENTS PAGE.
