Hulk Hogan Says Lars Asked Him to Play in Metallica

This is funny stuff!  It seems that being one of the biggest wrestlers of all time isn’t good enough for Hulk Hogan, now he says he was asked to play in Metallica.  WTF??  Next thing he will be saying that he invented the light bulb.

I guess Mr. Hogan has been saying for years that he wanted to play bass in Metallica and that Lars actually asked to join the band back in the day.  The “Hulkster” said in a recent interview that he used to be a session musician before becoming a wrestler,

I played bass guitar. I was big pals with Lars Ulrich and he asked me if I wanted to play bass with Metallica in their early days but it didn’t work out.

That all sounds fine and dandy, but Lars says he doesn’t even know Hulk Hogan nor does he remember every saying that.  He recently talked with Howard Stern and said,

I was scratching my head over that one . . . I don’t know Hulk Hogan, I don’t know enough about him . . . I’m not a huge wrestling (fan) . . . Unless he went by, like, his Christian name or something, and I don’t know if anybody knows what his Christian name was — Dave Smith or something — if there was a whole thing that we had with him under a different name, but I certainly have no recollection of doing anything with quote Hulk Hogan

If you think he may just be forgetting about this you are wrong, Lars has a memory like Fort Know, just ask James Hetfield.  He recently said about Lar’s memory,

He cannot forget things, where I’m pretty much the opposite, I remember hardly anything about what’s going on (laughs). But Lars is a great historian on Metallica and we joke about him being the biggest Metallica fan on the planet, and that he is. You know, he’ll be the guy that has the museum or all of that Metalli-memorabilia. He’s Encyclopedia Metallica.
