Marvel Comics Creates New Superhero To Honor Deaf Child

As we are honoring the men and women of our Military this weekend with Memorial Day, one could call them a superhero for all they do. Here is another superhero story. I may not be a huge fan of comic books and superheros but when I see a story like this, I can’t help but share it with you.
A four-year-old boy, Anthony, is deaf in one ear and has hearing loss in the other, so he is forced to wear a hearing aid. Even at such a young age kids can be victims of bullying for being different. Anthony can’t help the fact that he can’t hear and has to use hearing aids. But, Anthony refuses to wear them! He says he can’t wear it because superheros don’t wear them. Well his mother, Christina, wrote to Marvel Comics to ask for some help.
Not only did Marvel Comics read her letter and respond, they created a new hearing-impaired superhero in honor of Anthony. “Blue Ear” is the new superhero named after Anthony’s nickname for his hearing device.
Anthony was so inspired by “Blue Ear,” his mother says he now ears his hearing aids without complaint!
“From here, anything is possible, and that’s the way he’s looking at it.”

How freaking cool of Marvel to do something like this! To actually care about someone to create a new superhero to not only help this family but many others that are having the same problem, it just amazing! Way to raise the bar Marvel!
