Morneau Hits Two Dingers; Twins Beat Yankees and Lead Series

Just when I thought the Yankees would take the series lead, my unrecognizable new Twins team beat up on the Brooklyn Bombers and win 6-5.
Justin Morneau had a hot bat today and homered twice, and Jason Marquis survived a three-run first inning to win his Twins debut. Morneau ended up going 3 for 3 off Yankees starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda , hitting two long homers, the second of which going deep into the second deck in right-center field. He now has four home runs, three in the two games he has played this series. Marquis had a nice four-run lead before he even took the mound, then gave up three runs in a 34-pitch first inning. Derek Jeter hit a solo home run off closer Matt Capps in the ninth, but it was too little too late. Capps gets the third save in his last three attempts.
The Twins haven’t won a series in NY since 2001 and have a chance to do just that tomorrow night when they face the Yankees again. Game time is 6:05 and the pre-game is on WJON.
