Prom Will Cost Me How Much?
I was reading in USA Today that it costs the average parent almost $1,100 to send their teenager to the prom this year. I thought to myself that this had to be a mistake.
But then again, I’m a dude.
I can see how girls have to do hair, make-up, and other girly things that guys don’t have to do. But really – $1,100?
It made me think back to my senior prom.
The year was 1988 – lets recount the expenses.
Tuxedo – $100
Her Corsage – $20
Dinner – $50
Limo (yes, my mom was that cool that she splurged on a limo) – $240
That’s a grand total of $410. I know that was a long time ago, but that is still coming up way short of the average $1,100, for today’s prom.
The bottom line is – my son better get a job – or he might not be going!
