REV Rock Quick Hits:Blink 182 On Ebay, Limp Bizkit Releasing, Future For The Darkness Brighter
* Blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus is auctioning off a bunch of personal memorabilia on eBay in hopes of raising money for relief efforts in Japan, following last week’s catastrophic earthquake and tsunami. Among the items on the block are the original handwritten lyrics for “Rock Show,” the sweater he wore in the video for “Dammit,” backstage passes and promotional items. See what he’s got and place your bids at ebay.com
* Although a May 27th release date was initially announced for a new U2 album called Songs Of Ascent, that date has now been pulled from Amazon, where it first appeared. The set, a companion piece to 2009′s No Line On The Horizon, was originally supposed to come out last year. The May release date was expected to tie in with the launch of the Irish band’s North American tour, but there has been no pre-release marketing done for the record. The tour itself was delayed by nearly a year after singer Bono injured his back. (Spinner)
* Limp Bizkit may actually release two new albums in the near future. Although the band had previously announced that it was working on a new disc called Gold Cobra, frontman Fred Durst recently tweeted, “Obviously we have two albums here, in case you didn’t pick up on that. First one is Gold Cobra. Due soon.” Neither of the albums has a release date, although Durst has said that he wants Gold Cobra to come out this summer. He also recently revealed that rappers Lil Wayne and Raekwon, along with Kiss bassist Gene Simmons, are guests on the record. (FMQB)
* The original lineup of British hair metal throwback band The Darkness has reunited and is working on a new record in a London studio. The band, which split in 2007 after one hit album and one bomb, will also perform at this year’s Download Festival in the U.K. on June 10th. Lead singer Justin Hawkins wrote on Twitter that he was “overwhelmed” by the positive fan response to the news that the group had been reactivated. (NME)
