Twins Lose 4-3 in 13 Innings

The Twinkies lost the steam last night and fell to the Texas Rangers 4-3 in 13 innings. The Twins had the lead 3-0 until the bottom of the 9th, that’s when the Rangers (who are accustomed to the heat) got hot bats and brought home 3 unearned runs off Glen Perkins. Brian Dozier had begun the inning but committed an error that led to the 3 unearned runs. Ian Kinsler had the final say in the game singling off Alex Burnett in the 13th inning to put the nail in the coffin.
Cole DeVries threw 7 shutout innings with 3 hits and 1 walk allowed with 7 strikeouts. Joe Mauer and Ryan Doumit were 2-6 with 1 run scored and Trevor Plouffe was 2-5 with 1 run scored for the Twins.
The Twins are now 36-49 and will host Oakland Friday night after the All Star break. Game time is 7:10 with the pregame on WJON at 6:40.
