Wild Sign Top Finnish Prospect Mikael Granlund

Hopefully the news of the Wild signing the top prospect from Finland is a sign of good things to come. From what I have read Mikael Granlund isn’t the biggest player, nor is he the fastest, but much like hos soon to be teammate and fellow Finn Mikko Koivu, Granlund has great hands and stick handling ability. The Wild really need to get things together this off season if they want to compete this coming season.
This young #2 draft pick will get a 3-year $2.7 Million contract. The contract includes $90,000 in bonus money annually. He was ranked #2 by the Hockey News Future Watch. Granlund scored 40 points in 43 games as a 17-year old in the Finnish Elite League. As a 19-year old last season he led the HIFK in regular season scoring. The Wild took Granlund with the 9th overall pick in 2010.
